It is never fun to be going about your business in your own home only to find that you have a pest infestation. There are many different types of pests that can be found, but the most common are mice and rats. Now the rodents that infest a home are not the same that you can buy at a pet store. First And Foremost, Stay Clean
Now, keeping a clean home is not going to keep all mice and rats out of the home, but it can definitely help. If you have excess garbage around your garbage cans, you could be welcoming these little rodents into the home. Also if you have crumbs or unsecured food in the pantry, it could become an easy snack for a rodent. Be sure that you are doing everything that you can to maintain a clean home. This could significantly reduce the problem.
Traps
Mice and rats are very different from one another; mice are very curious while rats are extremely cautious. You may find that rats are hard to trap, but mice are fairly easy to trap. Watch for grease or scratch marks on base boards to show you where the rodents are traveling. Also take note where you find fecal pellets. You are going to want to place your traps as close to these areas as possible. Then set the trap with the food that is most enticing to the rodent. If you find that they are getting into your cereal, put cereal in the trap.

If you are finding that the rodents are taking over, it may be time to call a professional. These professional pest control companies are good at what they do.
